LOL! You still need to calm down. Douglas is definatley not the best guard in the league (see Jordan Knox or Brandon Smith about that) and, he didn't stop Smith AT ALL. Before the game I spoke with a friend of the Smith family, and he told me Smith was very sick and that he was suprised to see the kid suited up. On the Antioch vs DLS board somebody confirms he was sick siteing Smith had the flu. Besides Smith being sick, your arguments are invalid because:

Douglas on Defense:

1. Douglas didn't shut down Smith. Smith took 4 shots, all layups, where he got past Douglas easily. One attempt got him to the line, and the other 3 layups all rimmed out. At the line Smith was 1 of 6-- I believe. SOOOO how is this Douglas shutting Smith down?

2. Smith didn't need to score with the 2 of the best 3 point shooters in the league drilling them their shots! ( Jose----Jose-Jose-Jose, & Jeff Powers)

Douglas on Offense:

1. Calvin shot the ball well, but not 25 points well. His point total was helped BIG TIME by the refs putting him on the line, calling bogus fouls.

2. The refs only called Douglas once toward the end of the game for his push off. He was pushing off of Smith and Estrada ALL NIGHT! If the refs called the game fairly, many of his points would not have been because of his illegal push-offs.

3. Calvin still had problems handeling the ball. He turned it over at least 4 times that I counted. And he didn't even handle the ball nearly as much as he did the last game.

Calvin plays with heart. He seems like a good kid. If he wants to play at a mid major, he will need to put some serious work on his ability to handle the ball and his defense. His shot goes in when he is not forcing it, so he just needs to keep having good shot selections.

CALVIN---
Antioch has 2 weeks left of league games, then your highschool career is over. Good luck to you at the next level.

GO DELA!

I am responding to your posting as a High School FAN, with no personal ties to Smith or Douglas. But I am very surprise by your personal attack on an 18 year kid who from what I have seen just loves playing basketball.

You forgot to mention one important point, THE BETTER TEAM WON, everything else does not matter. Smith is an outstanding playing and comes from a good family and so does Douglas. I do not thing either of them went into this game with the thought of stopping each other, but to play hard for their team to win.

In addition, last time I checked 25 points is 25 points, no matter how a player scored them. If a player scores 25 free throws, it is still 25 points. Douglas scored 27 and 25 the following games so your argument is hard to explain.

Obviously, there was something about Douglas game that impressed you enough for you to bring a clip board and evaluate his overall game. Me, I just watched two good TEAMS go at it.

Also, you mentioned that he needs to improve his ball handling, which is true, but are you saying the every DELA player and other high school players game is flawless?

In closing Antioch beat Pitt Friday night (Douglas 25, Williams 23) and is in 2nd place. If they win the rest of their games they finish 13 – 3 which will earn them a seeding in the NCS.

DELA will definitely be the top seed and most likely play Mack in the Nor Cal championship.

Lastly, let the Coaches decide who the best players in the BVAL are.

LOL! yeah I think that guy was PERSONALLY ATTACKING WILLIAMS! Not sure how you got that from his post or that he was saying everyone at DLS has perfect ball handles.

He is saying that it is wrong for grown men to criticize a kid for doing something good. Douglas did good and from the past posts on this site it seemed like everybody wanted him to be a complete failure. He proved you guys wrong and now you want to critcize his playing ability.Criticize Brandon for not being able to shoot a lick(AIRBALLED A FREE THROW) and not shutting down a kid who everyone thinks is a average player.Whether he was sick or not,if you play, you better ball the way you ball when your healthy. There should be no excuses what so ever. They are both good players but Douglas is better to be really honest sith you guys because:
1)Leading his team with a hurt Williams to the playoffs
2)Has no help at all from his teammates
3)Mr.Everything for that team
4)Plays through injuries or sickness(Battled a bad back for half of the season)
5)Real humble and let his game speak
I bet if calvin was at de la you would not hear people downplaying this kid.

I see all this hype and all this about how brandon smith, calvin douglas and jordan knox are the best guards in the league but is anyone paying attention to deer valleys guards?I mean calvi is the best guard in the league hands down but D'angelo williams and Tyree
murray are lighting the league up as well i mean they have very little help from there young team but the two of them deserve a lot more credit than what their getting...Murray had 20 points and held douglas to 10 or 12 in their 1st meeting and also lead his team to a win while williams had 15 second half points...and against heritage who is so highly hyped Murray had 23 and williams had 22 while knox had 8...and you are telling me that these 2 kids aren't good? i just think that you might be paying a little too much attention to some players and are sleeping on a few...

Murray & Williams are good guards. But a healthy Knox cleans up both of them. Knox has been playing with a goin strain most of the season and his is still putting up decent numbers. Yes indeed, he only scored 8 points against Deer Valley in the first game on 1 1/2 leg and Deer Valley only beat Heritage by 5 points. Not saying Murray & Williams aren't good but Smith & Knox are better. And btw: Douglas is not the best guard in the league. He is the best player right now, but not the best guard.

I get your point but you cant speak on a healthy knox if he isnt healthy we could talk about what he could be doing and has done in the past but its present right now and right now Murray is a better player not saying that knox wont be or isnt capable of being better but at the moment he isnt...Murray isnt healthy either matter fact he had a bad ankle sprain in the Heritage game but the stats and evreything speak for itself and we will see they still have to play onve more anyway but my prediction is that the outcome will be the same Murray is very very underrated

And about smith he is a very good guard as well as knox but you cant really compare smith and murray because of the 2 different styles they play...Murray is a scoring point guard who can pass and smith is a true point guard with not a lot of scoring ability but i doubt smith is a better overall player he is just in a better system with better role players that make him look better...i believe Murray should make 1st team all league do you agree???

I UNDERSTAND THAT ABOUT THE GUY GETTING PUT IN A HEADLOCK BUT I GUESS YOU ALSO DIDINT SEE THE GUY FROM HERITAGE THROW A PUNCH. IM SURPRISED TO SEE THE LIBERTY PLAYER SHOW SOME SPORTSMANSHIP AND NOT HIT BACK. THE REFS DIDNT SEE IT BUT I HAVE THE GAME ON FILM HE HIT HIM. SO DONT TRY TO MAKE LIBERTY KIDS SEEM LIKE THERE THE ONLY ONE'S THAT DID WRONG.

I just wanted to clarify that whoever said this is an idiot and no Heritage player ever threw a punch. I watched the whole incident on tape many times and it just proved to me that Liberty is a low-class team
