It was just another day at the office for the De La Salle boys basketball team (4-0). With tenacious pressure defense and their patient churning offense, the Spartans took care of Hogan of Vallejo (4-5) 73 - 28. It was also a game of scoring runs for the Spartans, having unanswered scoring runs of 7, 9, 12, 10 and 15.

De La Salle's defense got them off to a quick start scoring the first seven points. The quarter ended the same way with another seven point scoring binge sparked by 5 points from Dominic Martellaro to end the quarter.

The second quarter saw a 12 to nothing run that included 3 De La Salle 3-pointers along with an old-fashioned 3 point play from Joell Crawford. The score at the half was 38 - 16.

The third quarter was owned by the two Spartan big men Jeff Powers, who ended up with 14 points and John McArthur who led all scorers with 15. Powers and McArthur had 12 of the Spartan's 16 points in the quarter. The defense held Hogan to just 9 points in the quarter.

Going into the fourth quarter, De La Salle held a 54 to 25 lead and continued its tenacious defense. De La Salle held Hogan to just 3 points in the fourth.

Kelly Jackson led Hogan in scoring with 6 points and 2 blocked shots.

Next up for the Spartans is Central Catholic of Portland Oregon on Dec. 26th in the Les Schwab Invitational, while Hogan will participate in the Alhambra tournament starting on Dec. 27th.
