Like the rest of this town, every member of my crack research staff is a big basketball fan.They argue left and right about the best lineup. They bicker about the performance of every rookie. And they storm away if anyone dares to insult their Kings.It's kind of like living in a reality version of a Kings fan site. That convinced me it's high time we looked at the top Kings fan Web sites now that the season has begun.None of these sites are louder than my staff, but you'll swear you can hear them yelling as you read some of their forums.Sactown RoyaltyThe site: www.sactownroyalty.comThe skinny: This a blog site foremost. Tom Ziller has been producing it for years. He blogs about every game and significant news events with his own spin and humor. His site is part of the SportsBlogs Nation, but he makes it unique.The call: There's no question this is the best Kings blog/fan site on the Web. Ziller is dedicated to the site so much that he offers original reporting, such as the Q&As he does with the media – including one he did with this editor about two years ago.KingsfansThe site: www.kingsfans.comThe skinny: This site is a marriage of blogs and forums. It features commentary on all aspects of the Kings and an array of topics for discussion by fans. The fans break down the forums by "Kings Rap," "Personnel Moves," "Arena News" and "Tickets."The call: While the blog writing is not as insightful as Ziller's, Kingsfans' main writer, VF21, regularly makes good points. Also, the fans on this site sound very smart, with many detailed rants to explain their views. The fans' posts are usually more poignant than the blogs. Also, this is very much a Kings community that helps each other out, especially in the "Tickets" forum.KingstalkThe site: www.kingstalk.comThe skinny: This is mostly a forum site where Kings fans go to vent about the good, the bad and, mostly, the ugly. Fans do a good job of starting discussions, reaching far around the net for new topics.The call: The comments on this site are more quick-hit rants and ideas. There's not a lot of back-biting or name-calling. The topics are interesting and sometimes funny.SacBee forumsThe site: www.sacbee.com/forumsThe skinny: Yes, this a shill for The Bee's new Kings forums. It debuted two weeks ago. It's easy to use and has some of the newest technology for Forums by a company named "Pluck."The call: The forums are still evolving. But the best part of sacbee.com is that Kings forums are moderated by Kings beat writer Sam Amick, who poses questions to readers every other day. He will offer his insights and answer questions there as well.
